My sweet daughter, Lauren, is home for Christmas. She and I had dinner with a legitimate hero tonight....and he's far too humble to tell you his story....so I will.
The former OTA1/STG1 and current lead acoustic analyst at ONI, Cliff Smith, and a friend (identity protected)were bass fishing in the Potomac River today....near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge....when they noticed a ton of emergency vehicles on the bridge. Most of us understand what that normally means.
They decided to move in that direction in order to render assistance.
Cliff and his partner pulled a nearly unconscious young woman from the river....still alive....covered her in their coats and hat and body and sped to the shore where EMS took over.
These guys are really heroes. BZ to Cliff and his fishing buddy.
What a great Christmas present Cliff and his friend gave to that young lady and her family. Warms the heart. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Holiday to all of you out there. Ed Smock
