The First of What May Be Many SAN JUAN Wreckage Reports That Don't Make Any Sense Now

The news item below states the wreck was found "hundreds of miles from its last reported position." The time of that reported
position was 1016 GMT on 15 Nov 2017. The SAN JUAN imploded at 1351 GMT on 15 Nov 2017 and would have sunk vertically.

How you get "hundreds of miles" in three and a half hours with half your battery shut-down? We'll just have to sit back and wait
for things to get sorted out.

NEWS ITEM:

"It was located at a depth of around 907m (2,975ft) in the waters off the Valdes Peninsula and was surrounded by a field of rubble, with underwater turbulence making visibility difficult.

Military ships will be deployed to the scene - hundreds of miles from its last reported position - to obtain high-res images and information from the submarine, which had 44 crew members on-board at the time it disappeared.

Teams will dive down to whatever is left of the San Juan during an operation that is expected to last about seven hours, but defence minister Oscar Aguad has warned that the country "does not have the means to recover the wreckage".

The vessel is thought to be scattered in pieces on the ocean floor."

Re: The First of What May Be Many SAN JUAN Wreckage Reports That Don't Make Any Sense Now

And therein lies the problem - asking logical questions. While it is a very sad loss of life, people in high places said things they most likely shouldn't have, at the time.

Bruce, try to remember that history is written by the victors (or those remaining). It is their perception that is recorded. The good news is that there are people out in the world who don't let up when it comes to discovering the real truth, or the real event. Their motive is not for embarrassment but for knowledge & safety.

Knowledge is like a flower - it reveals itself a pedal at a time.

Gail, forget the flower analogy.

The CTBTO Report of 29 Nov 2017 provided the basis for derivation of the following:

Collapse depth
Energy release
Duration of compession phase of the collapse
Quantification of the involved forces
Survival probabilities
Bathymetry above which the SAN JUAN collapsed
Probable dimensions of the debris field
Number of major sections of the wreck

The last messages sent by the SAN JUAN indicated - with a very high probability - the cause of the disaster.

Discussion of these results is the provence of Argentine authorities.

Gail, "try to remember that the history (of collapse events) is written by" acoustics. So it was with THRESHER, SCORPION, STERLET, the K-8, the K-278, the SAN JUAN and three other events that cannot be further discussed.
