Estimate of Acoustic Detectability of the LOSHARIK Special Purpose Russian Nuc Platform
As discussed by my posting of 24 April 2019 - and the linked site - the LOSHARIK will be transported to areas of interest by
the BELGOROD.
It is probable the LOSHARIK will employ a single 12,000 rpm turbine to drive a four-pole generator to produce 400 Hz ac power.
That output will be "rectified" to drive a constant speed (300 rpm?) controllable-pitch, three-bladed main propulsion propeller to achieve speeds up to about five knots.
When operating in proximity to western ASW assets, the LOSHARIK may secure the turbine and operate
on battery power for as long as 24-36 hours.
