We've all served and heard all of the great military sayings/expressions/descriptions etc.
Thought it might be interesting to compile some of them.
I'll start with one I heard while walking down the passageway at NOPF DN in the mid-80's. The CMC was instructing a young sailor on the proper operation of the buffer and he said..."Son, I want this deck to shine like a diamond in a goat's ass".
Wonder why I never heard that one on a TV commercial advertisement for floor products? Anyway, 50 years ago this week, as I entered the Pearly Gates at Great Lakes Recruit Training Center, we were sooo graciously greeted by a softly spoken chief, that gave us the saying " You're in a world of S___ now!". That phrase was to be repeated several more times over the next 8 weeks, just incase you might not remember it. I remained dry.
