Passing of my wife Susan Devers

I posted back in August that Sue's health was worsening. On May 13th 2019 she lost her battle with breast cancer. She fought it long and hard and had been stage 4 for almost 2 1/2 years. We were in the midst of making some final visits with family when she passed away. She completed her list though. We went west to see Family for Thanksgiving and to Virginia for Christmas. In April we were able to celebrate our only granddaughters first birthday and then Easter at Ben's house. We then went to Georgia where we were able to hang out with three of her brothers and their families for a week. We were on our return trip north to New Hampshire when we had to stop in Fredericksburg, VA unable to go any further. She lived a full and adventurous life and will be dearly missed. Many of you knew her and were able to share some laughs and good times. She supported me through my careers and made me a better person than I could have been alone.

Doug,
So sorry to hear of your loss. Know that your many friends throughout SOSUS/IUSS are with you and your family at this very difficult time. You are not alone, we are with you. Sue's pain is now gone. May your memories of better times help ease your pain. Warmest regards, Ed Smock

Re: Passing of my wife Susan Devers

Doug, your Navy family mourns with you. She has earned her passage to the next life and now if someone asks how Susan is doing, in your heart's mind you can finally say she is well. And she is. Chris and I pray for you and your family.

Doug and Family,
please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of your wife Susan. I know intimately the pain you are feeling. Just know that it does get better with time, even as the feeling of loss never goes away.

With deepest sympathy,
