Re: Dan Sherman

That is sad. Dan was also a frequent on-site rep in Japan, and I worked with him often in the early 70s.

Re: Dan Sherman

Sad to hear about Dan. Dan was a great friend who taught me a lot on Grand Turk in 1957. I thought of him many times throughout the years. Met him in DC in the early 70's and we recalled our fun times on GT.

Dick:

If you were at ITEM in 1957, you must remember the Roman Type signatures.

They were collected in the Black Sea and turned out to be SKORYY Class DDs.

The Roman Type 5 was a good match for a helicopter.

The dark ages were, indeed, very dark.

Re: Dan Sherman

When I reported to Coos Bay in June of 1966 from "O" school I was placed in Dan's watch section. I was an E6 and was assigned as a reader. Dan Sherman was a total professional. He always took time to explain and pass his knowledge to his crew. Dan was very demanding of us but also on himself. I was an honor to serve with Dan and I am grateful for the time I spent with him. RIP
