Re: Wife Scheduled for Open Heart Surgery June 27th
John Helzer:
Had RF ablation seven years ago to deal with recurrent A-Fib.
The operation was a great success; no A-Fib since; however, I
was not told of the serious discomfort (real pain) that put me
back in the emergency room that night; thought I was having
a heart attack.
Surgeon's response: "Oh yes, that's a common result." My
response: "It would have been nice if I had been told what to
expect!"
Pain was of only temporary duration: circa one day.
Re: Wife Scheduled for Open Heart Surgery June 27th
Wife's surgery started at 8 am this morning after 90 minute pre-op. The doctor orginally stated it would take 4-5 hours. the surgery when so well that it was completed 3 hours at 11 am. Surgery when extremely well, Dr repaired Mitral Valve and another valve that had a small leak so he repaired it, Also did a procedure to fix AFIB. She is in the Heart Center ICU for the next 24 - 48 hours, then to a regular room for 3 - 5 days.
