One Doctor's Assessment of The Primary Reason Seniors (75+) End Up in The Hospital
While discussing medical issues during my annual check-up, my cardiologist stated that his experience
was that the primary reason those over 75 ended up in the hospital was not cardiac issues or cancer or
diabetes or any of the more "popular" afflictions, it was because of car accidents brought about by
failure to recognize and act upon the conclusion that they were no longer physically competent to
drive - usually failing vision.

That is one of the reasons I get an annual eye exam. My cardiologist had told me the same thing many years ago. I had also developed cataracts and finally about 11 years ago the eye doctor said they were ripe and I had the lenses replaced. Best money I spent in a long time.
