The Navy has Effectively Killed the Freedom of Information Act

The Navy has created a new classification category that permits them to deny approval for the publication of unclassified information. The statement you may find on any discussion you submit to the Navy for review may contain the following:

(quote) Portions of this report have been designated as Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) by the US Navy and have been redacted. (end quote)

I am sure that were I now submitting the texts of my THRESHER and SCORPION books to the Navy for review, I would receive a direct shot to the gizzard: CUI stamps all over the drafts.

I assume the Navy took this step to deal with the previously discussed lawsuit over disclosure of additional THRESHER documents.

Basically, it appears the Navy is trying to "lock the stable door after the horse has been stolen."
