IUSSCAA donation to Cold War Museum

FYI.

Jim,

I’m attaching a formal acknowledgement from the Museum of the very generous gift from your alumni association of undersea surveillance folks. Like any non-profit we’re happy to take donations from many sources, but from a personal satisfaction standpoint, there’s nothing that compares with a donation from Cold War professionals like your group, because this is a vote of confidence from people who lived this stuff.

Thanks also very much for the card with the actual SOSUS Acoustic Display and your explanation text. We’ll put the Display, with your explanation as a label, into the exhibit you made for us about SOSUS.

FYI, and in case you’d like to pass this along to the Alumni Association members, I’m attaching a copy of our most recent list of Presentations in our Presentation Series. More information and tickets for most of the forthcoming ones is available at the Museum’s section on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/d/va--chantilly/cold-war-museum/ Hope we can tempt you, your wife, and others to hike up this way to see some of these and maybe learn some things about other parts of the intel and Cold War worlds that you didn’t directly experience.

Again, on behalf of the staff and Board, thanks very much! A vote of support from Cold War professionals is very meaningful to us.

Jason

P.S.—We had local TV (WUSA) reporter Laura Geller and her cameraman at the Museum yesterday aft shooting for a feature she’s doing on the history of Vint Hill—interviews with me and with Mike Washvill of our staff, as someone who served at Vint Hill when it was operational. Expected to air in Feb and we’ll get the clip. That should get some more visitors looking at your SOSUS exhibit.
