At the Age of 85, I Thought Another Sub Loss Event Would Not Occur During My Lifetime. I was Wrong.
So far, the loss of the Indonesian submarine smells like a XEROX of the loss of the
ARA SAN JUAN in Nov 2017: did not surface; did not release an emergency signal
buoy, probably because the crew had been killed instantly. The sub then sank to
collapse at great depth.
A battery event should be a leading candidate for cause.
I've sent my final SCORPION and SAN JUAN assessments to the AJAAC (Australian
Joint Acoustic Analysis Center) for whatever use they may be.
The press reports: "The Indonesian navy is now seeking help with search from Australia
and Singapore"

I realize our mission, in the case war was to localize enemy submarines to be destroyed but it pains me to hear about any peace time submarine that fails to surface. I pray it was quick for the Indonesian submariners.
