Navy Released Shelburne (FOX array) LOFARGRAMS Show No Narrowband THRESHER Signature

Navy released Shelburne (FOX array) LOFARGRAMs for 10 Apr 63
show no THRESHER Main Coolant Pump Signature sources or the two
failed attempts to blow ballast because the bearing of released beams
is 70-degrees off THRESHER'S known bearing at the time of loss.

A review of all LOFARGRAMS released by the Navy on 5 Nov 2021 to comply
with a court-ordered disclosure show no detections of any machinery-system-
generated THRESHER acoustic components. That assessment applies not only
to the FOX data but also to the 10 April 1963 Bermuda data and the Eleuthera
data from 1962 released at the same time.

The original analysis provided to the THRESHER Court of Inquiry by the writer
on 18 Apr 1963 confirmed detection of Main Coolant Pump rotational-rates in
FAST (two-pole mode) from 0845R on 10 April 1963 until the non-vital electrical
bus began to fail 24 minutes later at 0909.0R causing a reactor scram and loss
of nuclear propulsion. This assessment was derived from analysis of the FOX
LOFARGRAM that covered the correct THRESHER bearing.

A photo-copy of the original FOX lofargram which showed both the Main Coolant
Pump and the failed attempts to deballast was still held by the Office of Naval
Intelligence on 7 March 2007 contained in a large brown legal envelope marked:
NEVER DESTROY."
