More Problems with the Navy Release of THRESHER LOFARgrams

In his IUSSCAA Message Board posting of 2 Dec 21, the writer stated
the following:

"Navy released Shelburne (FOX array) LOFARgrams for 10 Apr 63
show no THRESHER Main Coolant Pump Signature source or the
two failed attempts to blow ballast because the bearing of released
beams is 70-degrees off THRESHER'S known bearing at the time of
loss."

There is an additional Issue with the released THRESHER LOFARgrams.

The THRESHER Court of Inquiry (COI) "opened at 1740 hours, 18 April 1963."
The first witness was the writer who discussed the FOX array detections of
the THRESHER Main Coolant Pump source and the two failed attempts by
THRESHER to deballast.

The writer showed - and discussed - the specific acoustic sources displayed
by the FOX LOFARgram.

As stated in the COI official transcript: "COUNSEL FOR THE COURT: 'Could
you mark that spot with the letter 'A'. THE WITNESS: 'Yes, sir.' ((The witness
(the writer) complied.))"

Thus we have official THRESHER COI testimony that the critical FOX
LOFARgram was marked with the letter "A." None of the LOFARgrams
released by the Navy on 5 Nov 2021 show the letter "A." .

Re: More Problems with the Navy Release of THRESHER LOFARgrams

Seems like all of the grams were not released. Hard to believe that after all these years critical facts are being whitewashed, or omitted.

Steve:

The driving issue appears to be to protect "Nuclear Propulsion Information,"
even though the THRESHER data is more than 50 years old and by that fact
alone should be unclassified.
