Recognizing Shipmates 3

Circa 1974 Naval Facility Argentia I meet this young seaman by the name of Terry Clower. As a new reader in my section, he aspired to always do the best he could and before you know it made third class and got married to a wonderful Newfie girl named Ellen. She was as tough as they came with a heart of gold. Terry and I became good friends often playing racquetball and softball. We shared many good times and enjoyed some great lobster compliments of Ellen's dad. As time passed, we parted company for other duty stations. Fast forward to circa 1986 Naval Facility Bermuda I am reunited with Chief Clower. Once again, we rekindled an old friendship from days gone by. Terry was a dedicated tech who always gave his best shot under all circumstances. He will always be remembered as a dedicated family man in my book and I often think of the tragedy he endured in his life with the loss of his son and most recently the loss of his loving wife. My thoughts are always with you Terry and I am proud to know you and call you my friend. By the way, Ellen was a much better fisherman than you ever were. Be well buddy.

Hey Terry,
Stay off the Eiffle tower, It may tip over. Old age is catching up and the mind is getting rusty. I quickly deciphered your closing code but couldn't recall a specific incident. Also, I was banging my head thinking we were together in Antigua but couldn't convince myself. I was a first class there and hung out mostly with Bob Hovmiller and Ray Killian. Drawing a pretty big blank here. Deb says she remembers you and Ellen being there but I lost a few brain cells on this one. Too much booze I think.

Lordy, lordy JV. You picked Ell Kenny and myself from the airport and surprised us with the twins. I remember you making chief, and when I had the grams rolled up the hall way on my hands an knees saving the ORI battle drill in 82 or 81. And when you were the CDO one day breaking up Ellen and another dependent wife who had spanked Kenny on the play ground. Fun times.

The riddle was based on my sailing through the bay of biscay yesterday morning.
