UK : United snare Polish keeper

"Dundee United have completed signing of Polish goalkeeper Lukasz
Zaluska from club side Korona Kielce.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper has agreed terms with the Terrors on a
two-year contract, much to the delight of manager Craig Levein.

"I'm excited about securing the signature of this player," he told the
club's official website.

"He comes highly recommended and impressed greatly during his trial
period with us.

"He's at the right age to develop further as a goalkeeper and I'm sure
he will not only do well for the club, but will also become a firm
favourite with our supporters." Zaluska will officially become a
United player on June 11 when the transfer window re-opens in Poland."

There seems to be a trend in UK footie to take on Polish players. They are a few in the premiership even. My curiosity in this subject is related to the fact that on the whole Poland does not play good football (at least not football I can watch except through my fingers or behind the sofa or with a large box of tissues!).

This must surely be because of terrible coaching because players get recruited around the world to top teams. Is it coaching or is it that Poles together lack adequate team spirit but in another environment they perform? What do others think?

Re: UK : United snare Polish keeper

Polish coaching sucks, I don’t think it has anything to do with lack of talent.

I’m not saying they’re good enough now to win World Cup but they are good enough to be top 5.

Remember last summer’s game against Germany? Then again, Klose and Podolski are Polish themselves (top German scorers).

Re: UK : United snare Polish keeper

England also seem to be pants since Sven was replaced as manager.

Re: UK : United snare Polish keeper

I thought Sven was criticised because of England's poor show at the world cup and that's why he left. At least England play as a tightly knit team most of the time.

Still on a positive note Poland beat azerbaijan today by 3 goals. Not exactly world cup footie but it's better than losing
