A Polish Woodstock Music festival

My girl tells me that this weekend there is a Woodstock style Music festival in Poland!

Re: A Polish Woodstock Music festival

It is was in the small border town of Kostrzyn in Lubuskie. No time for longer reply today.

Przystanek Woodstock

Looks like something to avoid

Re: A Polish Woodstock Music festival

It could be I'm just too old!

Re: A Polish Woodstock Music festival

Apparently someone forgot to bring any music.

Re: A Polish Woodstock Music festival

By all accounts, the festival was a success. Less debauched than some similar ones in the West, but debauched enough to be worth going. I found this in the New Warsaw Express:

Education Ministry adviser Hanna
Wujkowska got a slap on the hand from
Health Minister Zbigniew Religa for criticising
a blood drive at the “Przystanek
Woodstock” music festival in a newspaper
column this week.
“In an atmosphere (literally) soaked
through with alcohol, the grinding noise of
Satanist music and curses, blood was being
given for the needs of the sick,”
Wujkowska wrote in a column for rightwing
and ultra-Catholic daily Nasz
Dziennik, warning her readers about the
danger of HIV and other infections.
Religa, who is also one of the country’s
leading heart surgeons, was quick
to respond.
“We should bow our heads before the
young people who gave such a huge
amount of blood, instead of talking bunk
about them,” he told reporters, adding
that someone who writes something like
that “has no idea about blood collection”
– a clear crack at Wujkowska, who herself
is a doctor.
The festival’s participants donated more
than 700 litres of blood in special buses
provided by the Polish Red Cross and controlled
by state health inspectors. The number
of infections detected was no higher
than among donors in other drives.
Polish hospitals generally suffer from
low blood stocks, especially in the summer.
