Roman English

I couldn't help posting this clip of Roman Giertych speaking in English. If he wants lessons, I'm sure he could afford some (but he's not getting past the door of my school).

Re: Roman English

I did hear a rumour, probably half true, that at least one of the native speaker teachers hired to teach members of the present regime, quit his/her job because some of the politicians were so personally unpleasant to them, and some were so dense as to be unteacheable. This bit of gossip came from a Polish source within the relevant ministry.

Re: Roman English

hmmm....I wonder how many non-Polish politicians have been taught to speak perfect Polish.....

Re: Roman English

:Probably woefully few. Though for sure, plenty have had to learn English, French, Spanish, German, Arabic, Chinese & Russian, and in days gone by, Latin, Greek, Sumerian, Persian & Ancient Egyptian.

Seriously though, at least 2 British MPs speak Polish.

Re: Roman English

"Seriously though, at least 2 British MPs speak Polish."

Is that because they are ethnic Poles or have they learned to speak it?

Re: Roman English

Both have Polish roots. Also the Minister for Europe, Denis McShane had a Polish grandfather who was in the RAF. The late Lords Shinwell, Kaberry & Kagan (communist, conservative & labour, respectively) had Polish Jewish roots & sat in the upper house.
