The Debate

PM ex-President TV debate fails to prove conclusive

The majority of respondents (53%) to a telephone poll conducted by GfK Polonia after the debate last night between PM Jarosaw Kaczyski and former President Aleksander Kwaniewski are of the opinion that the ex President was the winner.

In the eyes of 47% the victory went to the Prime Minister. The one-hour debate was broadcast on state television (TVP) and Polish Radio. According to Jan Repa, BBC Europe analyst, the part of the debate on foreign policy, "Was full of recrimination, backward looking, focused on the form and lacked answers to some important issues". In the opinion of former President Lech Wasa, Kaczyski should not have agreed to a debate with Kwaniewski at all. "Kaczyski should have faced Tusk (PO) to give the right wing a chance to show their wisdom", Wasa told TOK FM radio. Sociologist Pawe piewak believes the debate was, "A prearranged match without any goals; hard play, but the result was a setup". He said that the duel did not shed any new light on the current shape of politics. (Polish Radio)

Did anyone here catch this? I hate to admit it, but Kaczynski whooped Kwasiewski.

Kwasniewski now sounds like a typical european leftist.

Re: The Debate

I wasn't impressed either way, have to admit that the style of the interview and manner of the debate was something very Polish, its done a bit different down under. Oh yes it was good to see Kwasniewski sober and not disgrace himself this time.

Re: The Debate

I didn't see it. I was surfing the internet in the same room. My wife did. She said Kaczynski was better. Well prepared.

Interestingly, Tusk wasn't invited apparently.

Re: The Debate

I watched something else.
