Bread

I bought a bread maker last week. Absolutely brilliant. No mess, no hassle - just add the ingredients, it mixes and bakes. We've got the standard white loaf off to a tee now.

Time to try other breads

Re: Bread

Some questions:

What is the brand? How much did it cost? How long does it take to bake a loaf of bread?

The idea of home-baked bread appeals to me.

Re: Bread

I remember it's a Moulinex and cost me 300zl. Got it from Saturn (not the planet).

Even a complete idiot can use it - I'm living proof!

Re: Bread

Are the instructions in a sensible language?

Why is it electrical products here, so often only have instructions in Polish ???

Re: Bread

Even German

Re: Bread

Bread machines are very good, although making sourdough/rye bread has its problems.
Avoid pre mix and buy your own high quality flours.
Bread machines are also good for making pizza bases..

Re: Bread

3 hours for a loaf, some time to cool.
My machine also makes jam, apparently.

Re: Bread

It's one of those things you buy thinking what a wonderful idea, but never use.

Re: Bread

Not true - that's my electric slicing machine, my electric carving knife, my electric ...

This one is actually useful - bread without mess or hassle, 2 mins work and almost no washing up.

Re: Bread

We will buy one tomorrow during our Christmas shopping trip in Berlin.

Re: Bread

They're OK, but the bread often has an inferior texture. Many people (including me) just use one for mixing, kneading and proving and then pop the dough in a conventional oven, for much better results.

They're good for pizza bases too.

Re: Bread

Thanks for this tip. We've finally used our machine and the finished bread is very very good.
