Re: Cost of living Poland

When you ask somebody in Poland what they earn its always seems to be double to what they actually earn (Poles like to impress)
Having said that some items in Poland are exceptionally expensive ie imported items in particular. A lot of boutique items are more expensive than in Oz, I must say bread/milk/beer are still pretty cheap. hmmm perhaps Polish Real Estate is over priced?
I'm sure lot of Poles wouldn't admit earning 2000zl a month..not me.

Re: Cost of living Poland

Salaries in Poland can be high sometimes. I can believe she earns 8,000 as an editor in Warsaw. With this and without a mortgage to pay she must be living very well. Poland is a great place to live if your income is high. Warsaw is well known as a place of high salaries.

Re: Cost of living Poland

I agree with you Magda.. the point being made is 8000zl is not the average wage. No need for state the obvious that a person with her qualifications would earn four times as much if living in the West.
Lets remember the old age pensioner gets about 850zl a month, a laborer lucky to take home 1200zl and a teachers/nurses not much more.
Undoubtedly professional people working for a foreign company earn much more than 8000zl a month.
I suggest some high prices especially (foreign goods) are targeted for these people as are restaurants which only prefer foreigners.
