Researcher faces deportation back to Poland

August 3, 2008

MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) - A University of Idaho researcher who worked on bioterrorism defenses faces deportation back to Poland after being denied permanent residency by U.S. immigration officials and having her appeals rejected.

Katarzyna Dziewanowska was recruited by the university and worked 14 years there but was told to stop by school officials in 2005 because of the immigration mess.

Her husband, Witold Ferens, is a University of Idaho researcher studying ways to fight diseases such as AIDS, but can no longer receive grants because the couple are on a family application to remain in the U.S.

Immigration officials say Dziewanowska worked eight months without authorization, and that's why her application for permanent residency was rejected.

Re: America loves Poles, honest

This is nothing new. Everyone knows you need a work permit in the States. Once they catch you there is not much you can do. Funny thing is I'd think people were hoping to get out now rather than get in given the state of the economy.

Re: America loves Poles, honest

This has nothing to do with Poles orany oother immigrants but everything to do with 9/11 attacks. Wake up.

Why shouldn’t USA protect itself? The Brits should learn from the US.

If a towelhead, hate spewing monkey ever gave a hate speech like the ones that can be heard in London every single day in America, couple of good ol boys would deal with it the American way – shove a boot up his ass and send him back to his desert.

Sorry for the language, but confusing security with some prejudices is simply ludicrous.

I want some positive discrimination!
Poles ain't suicidal sinners - except when they drive.
