Re: English cars on the road in Poland

One of the reasons for this is the inability to officially register and therefore insure and (MOT) test a right hand car in Poland ...

Re: English cars on the road in Poland

One of our local s theads has been driving around in an Irish registered car for more than a year. He only lived there for a couple months and speaks not a word of English.

Used cars, expecially crap ones, are a hell of a lot cheaper in the UK and Ireland than they are in Poland.

You have to remember that until the mid 90s there were very few cars on Polish roads. They haven't had the same amount of time to create a registration system as non ex bloc countries. Poland prob needs a bit more help than the UK. UK doesn't have an excuse for not having a better system for keeping track of incoming traffic (should have been part of channel tunnel planning), but the whole system europewide needs to be sorted sharpish.

Re: English cars on the road in Poland

I think it's not legal to register an RHD car in Poland. Probably not a bad idea - I remember a hair-raising journey across Poland as a passenger having to tell the driver if it was safe to overtake.
