Brits in Krakow fined for pigeon abuse

Brits in Krakow fined for pigeon abuse
18.11.2009 18:59
Two British men have been fined by a court in Krakow for cruelty to two pigeons in the Old Town Square.

The two men were catching pigeons and tossing them up in the air.

Prosecutor Bogusława Marcinkowska said that they were throwing the pigeons in such a way that the birds weren’t able to fly and fell to the ground. Police were alerted to the activities of the British tourists by a passer-by.

The Brits were fined 600 zloty (150 euro) each but weren’t able to give the court a reason as to why they had tormented the famous pigeons of Krakow.

Krakow is a popular city with the British for stag night weekends. Locals have often complained of the sometimes lewd behaviour of groups of men, obviously the worse for drink.
