Poland's boring banks are doing quite well

The UK and US imposed strict controls on their banks after the credit-fuelled crisis of the ... 1920s. These were repealed in 1999 and will be put back in place this year or next. Very clever politicians we have.

In Poland, the banks were labelled as boring and unimaginative - unwilling to take business risk. And they're doing rather well now, according to Fitch.

Funny how the banking climate can suffer from global cooling too.
