Polish Food

What is the Polish national dish?

Re: Polish Food

The national dish is BIGOS (Hunter's Stew). It's made using meat, sausage, and pickled cabbage.

There's a recipe for bigos here:

Re: Polish Food

Two other polish dishes are: pierogi and beetrot soup. They're both very good.

Re: Polish Food

There's a lots of polish dishes, but its difficult to say that they're polish, for example kapuśniak - a soup made with cabbage or kotlety - chops.

Re: Polish Food

Gołąbki = pigeons
Cabbage leaves stuffed with minced meat and rice.

Re: Polish Food

Kopytka!

Re: Polish Food

It's mostly disgusting. Try McD's

Re: Polish Food

That's not true! My grandma came over from Poland and cooked the greatest food. Bigos is something everyone should try.

Besides, Burger King or KFC are better than MCD anyway!

Re: Polish Food

all polish food is great, Mcd is a terriable restraunt.

Re: Polish Food

I love polish food,
I have been over there 4 times in the last 3 years. The best of the best I have had is in the center of Krakow at this small restaurant on the square. The Pierogi and Golobki were awesome.
My wife is from there, and we also found a fantastic calling card to the area if anyone needs info on one. check out callingforcheap.com . We call there for 3 cents a minute with speed dial and online account management.

Anyway. If you are every in Poland, go to Krakow, stay in the oldest largest medieval square in all of europe. Watch the street perfomers and eat and drink outside on the square. See the undground nightclubs and pubs (more like catacombs now or atleast 1000 year old basements)and wawal castle! Don't miss Weilitzka salt mine.(not sure of the spelling). I guess I just want to say.. I love Poland!
Zakopane is great too if you have the time!
