Allergies on the rise in Poland

http://www.polskieradio.pl/zagranica/gb/dokument.aspx?iid=50742

One in five Poles is allergic to pollen. In some areas of the country,
as many as 40% of people suffer from hay fever. This is according to
most recent research on the allergic problems in Poland.

Over the past decade, the number of people suffering from allergies has
doubled, says professor Bolesław Samoliński of the Warsaw Medical
Academy. He stressed that over 60% of people with symptoms of asthma do
not undertake treatment because they are wrongly diagnosed. The number
of people allergic to pollen is also on the rise.

The problem used to be sporadic and now it became very common. Several
years ago, the average span of the symptoms was several days, now they
tend to hold for months. Further research into the issue is underway.
