The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) have published guidance approving the use of tirzepatide (brand name Mounjaro) for treating type 2 diabetes in England and Wales. Wegovy is a brand name pool cues under 200 for semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide receptor agonist, or GLP-1 analogue. It is a weight loss drug manufactured by Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk. Semaglutide (Wegovy) launched in the UK on 4 September and is available on the NHS as an option for weight management in line with NICE guidance, alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.Mounjaro®(mown-JAHR-OH) is an injectable medicine for adults with type 2 diabetes used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar (glucose). It is not known if Mounjaro can be used in people who have had inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis).
