Re: IV's

I don't know about Texas, but according to Massachusetts law, with training, MAs can start IVs. We had some debate at work for a while about this issue. I contacted a lawyer who sent me a copy of the state can and cannot list. Unfortunately, the insurance for my work won't cover an unlicensed worker for any IV therapy. We have 4 LPNs at my work who start the IVs and do IV med pushes. However, only 2 of the nurses know what they are doing and the other 2 are useless! It is frustrating to watch the 2 incompetents hurt my patients while I have to stand by knowing full well that I can do it!
