Gave my first injection today!

Sorry, I'm just realllly excited about it.

I gave my first Intramuscular injection today! I was incredibly nervous as the first time I've ever touched a syringe was today, and it was to practice/learn how to give injections on an orange.

I gave 1/2 cc of normal saline solution, with a 25g 1 in safety needle, injected into the Deltoid muscle of my lab partner.

The only thing I did wrong was instead of holding the syringe in place while pushing up the solution, I pushed down on it while pushing the solution up, which caused minor discomfort to my partner. Other than that, she said it didn't hurt at all.

The air bubbles are a ***** to get out, though.

Re: Gave my first injection today!

I have been giving injections for over six years now; bubbles can be a pain, my advise is to use your pen to tap them out, don't ruin your finger doing that

Re: Gave my first injection today!

Thanks for the tip! My fingers were hurting after flicking it several times, lol.
