malpractice insurance

I will be going to my externship April 27th. I was wondering if anyone has their own malpractice insurance policy? I have done some reading on this and I know right now the school I attend has a policy, but is their coverage? Can anyone tell me how much a policy costs if I wanted to get extra coverage?
I would rather have to much insurance than not enough.
Thanks
Tracy
