SWINE FLU SHOT.

Hi, I think I have to get the flu shot, and then the Swine flu shot before I go into my externship (will not be for a while still)is this mandatory? Im pretty sure it is for me but I have to ask again. Im kind of afraid to get it/probably will be hard to get also. I heard b4 not sure though, when you get these shots your actually being given the sickness but IDK. Thanks p.s. my cousin is just starting nursing and the clinicals start next week, and I mentioned this to her and she doesnt think they have to get it which I do not understand because we go to the same college.

Re: SWINE FLU SHOT.

For your cousin, more than likely, the CDC is recommending it being required to be able to come work. At my hospital it is required or else we have to wear a mask for the entire flu season. Also, if a family member at home has flu symptoms we have to wear a mask for a week. For you, it will depend on what is required at your externship site. If they require it and you refuse it they can refuse to let you train there.
