I am at the end of my first semester towards my degree I finish next December! I was just wondering what you can and cannot do as a student at externships? I was thinking it depends on where you live and go to. I just feel like in some of my classes (hands on,keyboarding) I have learned not so much...while others like med term I have. I feel jipped because my college is a private catholic school and they charge so much and I feel like I need to learn alot before I go out next fall.

At my front office externship, they trained me to do literally everything the folks who worked there did.
At the back office externship, they limited my access to internal scheduling and computer programs at the clinic. Other than that, everything the MAs I was assigned to did I was allowed to do. In other areas of the same clinic some of my classmates took darn near the whole semester to work up to doing everything. The clinic was very careful about who was allowed to do injections, as it should be.
