How often can a CMA be hired to work in an abulatory setting, such as a hospital? Most of the information we have learned is for office settings.

Re: Hospital Career as a CMA

No CMAs in my area are in the hospital. If they are they are not functioning under the role of a CMA but a CNA or Tech. Because a CMA functions under the supervision of a physicians and physicans spend so little actual time in the hospital there really is no ability to supervise the CMA. Plus most hospitals have strict rules that only licenced staff can perform roles that CMAs can do in an office setting such as injections, venipuncture, and lab work.

The closest thing to a hospital you can probably get is urgent care. My cousin works at one.
