i went for a job interview at a family practice but was told 2 days later i was passed over for someone WITHOUT EXPERIENCE!!! they said they could not afford to pay what i asked 8hr so they hired someone off the streets and would train them at minimum wage, to do xrays, EKGS and blood draws this seems very wrong and not sure if its legal to hire someone of a job like this W/O experience.

Hi there, I agree with its morally wrong, but it does happen. How much were you asking for per hour? You might how to lower hourly wage exception. Its a tough market now days, and you have to be flexible if your going to make it in job market. It might be best to keep checking around until you find the job your looking for. I understand that you have bills to pay and student loans that are going to be due and you want to make what you feel is right per hour. It happens once in a great while. If your in it for the money than you're in the wrong line of work. It's about helping others and not our own selfish needs or wants. Your heart has to be in it. Good luck in your journey.

Re: passed over for a job/ off the streets

A medical assistant can be hired off the street and trained. However, not hiring you at 8/hr vs some one for minimum wage that they have to train...does not seem like their office manager has very good math skill...it cost a lot of money to train some one from nothing...and if they do not spend that money and time to train some one off the streets properly they are putting their business at risk for pricey lawsuits. What is minimum wage in your state? In California it IS $8; granted it is the most expensive state to live in. Federal minimum wage is $7.25...so you have to at least be getting that...they are not saving that much by no hiring you. In the end, it seems like they lost out
