does it help for MA to have a lisence to take x-rays?

I am a SMA student who has an option to take more classes for x-rays and stress tests and ekg. I am hoping for feedback if these skills would help me find a job and earn more money. I am 60 and just going back to school will be done in February.

Re: does it help for MA to have a lisence to take x-rays?

Usually, a limited x-ray licensee is a separate credential. It really depends on where you work. At the clinic where I did my externship the x-ray department was removed from the halls Ortho, peds, immediate care and internal medicine. Logistically, an MA doing radiology wasn't in the plan. Where I work now, the rad tech covers MAs when one of us is out. Independent ortho docs may find this a valuable skill for their office.

I find EKG/ECG invaluable. From 0 to 5 or more times a week, many times we do an EKG for chest pain before we have a chance to get a providers attention. Other clinics may operate differently, we are kind of rural. We count ambulance response to our door in quarters of an hour, 1, 2, 3... so anything we can do to expedite information to our providers is a bonus.
