Re: What is the big difference?

I know there is no difference between a Certified Medical Assistant and a Registered Medical Assistant. The only difference is the organization that gives you the credential. The AAMA certifies and the AMT registers. As far as National Certified Medical Assistant, Ive never even heard of that so I don't know the answer. I hope this helps you a little bit.

Re: What is the big difference?

Okay here's the scope. First of all the NCMA is through(NCCT), and you have to re-certify every year...you must complete 14 ceu's and pay $77.00 to renew your certification. With the (AAMA)and the(AMT)are both good too. With these two groups you need to re-certify every five years, and show your continuing education. I don't know what their fees are to re-certify. Everyone will say theirs is the best certification, it doesn't matter really who got certified through. When you are a Certified Medical Assistant, you will generally get the job over someone that is not. Yes the wages can suck...but our economy is in bad shape right now and jobs are hard to come by. If you get a job a that pays low wages just hold onto to it until a better job comes along...at the same time you will be getting valuable experience and that will help you make those better wages we all dream of. If you are working right now, count your blessings and pray for those that don't have a job right now. I hoped that helped.
