Re: Meniers and being a MA

Giving an injection would be a bad time to have rotational vertigo, as would prepping a sterile field or assisting with minor surgery. I have had to hold butt cheeks open while the doc removed a cyst from that area, also a bad time for rotational vertigo. Some cysts really stink if they break pop or... combined with the other issues, it might be good to do on an empty stomach if you are spinning. I don't hear so well myself. I often have to ask the provider to write things down, so I can "see" what it is they are saying. The doc I have the least trouble hearing is the one who has hearing aids. Also, the alarm we use for timing strep tests I can't hear. More than once I have had folks in the office tell me the timer was going off. There are things you will be able to do to compensate, know your limits and work around them.

Re: Meniers and being a MA

I appreciatey our insight to my question Jeff. I have had some medical experience 4 years as a STNA(CNA in ohio)and 1 year as a phlebotomist for the red cross which was an interesting experience.

The only time i had any real trouble is when i worked ont he buses for the red cross drawing blood, no inside but the busses being unstable gave my vertigo fits and was not really safe for me to stick a 16 gauge needle into a persons arm lol.

I am trying to basically narrow down my next stpe in my medical career path, my wife is anurse so it would be reduntent for me to do that amd just mainly exploring my options.
