So I applied online yesterday for a nursing assistant job at a local hospital which had the description of : " Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides nursing care to non-acutely ill patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the patients and/or nursing unit." I mean I really am not too sure what I would have to do in that position. Is a nursing assistant in a hospital the same as a nursing home? I dont know if I can deal with changing people after they go to the bathroom. This wouldnt be my first choice position, but I didnt think they would call me back almost right away! The women is supposed to call me back later to set up an interview!? I just wanted to get my foot in the door somewhere/get experience. Anyone work as a NA in a hospital and what are your duties/pay like? Thanks!!!

You will do a lot of the things the nurses aids do in longterm care.Assist with feeding dressing bathing, empty foley catheter bags, empty colostomy bags change depends or chucks as needed. Also migh do accue checks and collect urine or bm samples.

May use equipment such as hoyer lifts etc

Hmmm. do they teach you this stuff? For experience is just said high school diploma/GED. I would think they would explain job duties to me but you never know. Any idea what the pay would be like in a hospital?
