Week One Medical Assistant Program 06/27 - 07/01 2011

Monday - Three hour orientation. Fouth hour was spent in Urinalysis lab learning the different parts of the compound microscope. We had a chance to look at blood samples which was really interesting. It has been a long time since I sat in a classroom so pretty much everything will be interesting, awesome, exciting or what??!! To me. LOL!!

Tuesday - The sophomores, juniors, and seniors introduced themselves to our class and shared their study tips, advice. Meet the rest of the adm. & teaching staff. I am a freshman again! LOL!!

Wednesday - Everyone said (admission rep, teaching staff, and upper classmen) by Friday everyone feels overwhelmed. My feeling of being overwhelmed started today. OMG what have I gotten myself into? LOL!!

Thursday - Today I had a two hour Anatomy & Physiology lecture and a two ECG lecture. Next Friday we will begin ECG practical skills.

Friday - 2 hour intro to comoputers & 2 hour Anatomy & Physiology lecture.

I have five homework assignments. I have completed two. My first quiz will be Tuesday, July 5, 2011.

Reflections: This week was very interesing and eye opening. This is going to be a very challenging program, but I believe that I will do well.

Enjoy your Holiday!! Stay safe!! :)

Re: Week One Medical Assistant Program 06/27 - 07/01 2011

OMG... nice blast from the past! Talk about wasting no time for "easing" the newbie students in! It sounds more like jump right in and swim with the stream. That's how it was in my accelerated medical assistant program. There were no separate classrooms for 1st class, 2nd class, 3rd class, or 4th. Freshmen sat with the Seniors and everything inbetween. Modules were created so that you went right along with the classes. As Seniors graduated, freshment arrived and then, eventually we earned the status of Seniors. Kind of neat. And yes, it was very, very busy, very engaging, jamb packed with interesting things and lots of self-study and homework assignments to do at home to keep up with the program. Each one of us had to also pick a lab partner whith which we were "stuck" throughout the entire program. Worked out well for everybody.
