What to expect from an externship?

Hi. I got done with my MA class a month ago and I'm biding my time until I do the externship. The reason for that is 1) I want some leisure time. 2)I know there's no job at the end of the tunnel even if I do good at the externship 3) Mainly, I'm a little anxious about it. I feel I didn't learn a great much in class. I passed with good grades, but in a practical setting, I don't know if I can do it. Guess I want some reassurance and experience at first time externships from y'all...
