low pay for MA

In Michigan I see ALOT of FT and PT MA jobs paying minimum wage (7.40 hr)and experience required in many cases who the heck did this trend start? not just small practices but large companies and speciality like OB are as well, sad

Hi there, That does sound a little low, but you have to start somewhere. You're not going to make a lot of money being a Medical Assistant. Most of us Medical Assistants are in it because we want to help others, and learn some new things so we can grow with our profession.

again, better than nothing. we had to cut an MA when goverment forced our office to pay 7:25 hr over the 5:15hr we used to, times are tough

Hello,

First I want to say..I love the medical field but we have to pay the bills! I would have to say if you want more money than you need to move out of Michigan..in some states MAs make less because they don't allow you to do that much as other states..I live in California and MAs get paid almost as much as nurses depending on the area and if your certified or not..
