Re: Undecided - Medical Assistant vs. Ophthalmic Technician?

I would carefully research all options, also considering the local job market, and whether I have the option to move if I must, and then possibly opt for the medical assistant training with the short term goal to graduate with high honors, sit for a recognized certification exam, and then the long term goal to aim for a job with an ophthalmologist or eye-glass shop (eye doctors are specialists and may pay a little more starting salary than, let's say a family physician). This way you are getting the benefit of your medical assistant training and your 20 credits in ophthalmology.
