Grandfather clause -- Indiana

I took the Medical Assisting courses at a local college in Indiana. I started working for my first physician as a student and was with him for nearly 10 years. I have been in my current position for 3 years. Once again I'm faced with finding work and I have no licensure. As I began working after finishing school in 1983 would I be considered "Grandfathered in" and how would I go about getting licensed/certified. Any help the forum could provide would be very appreciated.
