Any suggestions?

I have been a medical assistant for about a year. Due to a foot problem I had to quit my job as I can not stand on my foot for more than 4 hours at a time. Since most medical assistant jobs are 8 hour shifts that don't work for me. I want to do the front desk part of being a medical assistant, but due to no experience what so ever in that line of work it is very hard to find a job. They all want some one with 1 or more years of experience in that field, (front desk). I did the clinical aspect, rooming patients, bp, injections, etc. That don't seem to matter to them. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can go about getting a front desk job. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you. June

Re: Any suggestions?

It's all in the way you market yourself. If you took a course in Medical Assisting that was accredited by either CAAHEP or ABHES, than you had to have had externship experiences that related to MA material. And if you had a teacher worth her salt, she would've placed you in various sites to gain experience in the clinical, administrative, and transdisciplinary aspects of medical assisting. If that holds true for you, you can use your externships as related experience and referrences. Good luck to you!
