Help How do I find a job??

I hope someone out there can offer some advice. I completed a Medical Assisting program in June 2000. One month after I finished my husband was transferred to another state and then I had a baby who has special needs. Fast Forward to now. My son is ready for school and I am READY to go to work. I just don't think I will get hired because of being out of work for so long and the only true experience I have is the Externship I completed. If anyone has a suggestion on what I could do to get back on the job I would appreciate it. Sorry its so LONG!
