What do you make as an MA? I have been at the same job for over four years and I only make $9.00. I want to ask for a raise, but I am nervous about going about it.

Man! I make 14.50/hr and have only worked in an office for two years. Before working in a office I worked in a hospital as a PCT and I made about $10/hr there. I'm in Maryland and see ads in the paper all the time! It seem's the starting hourly rate is $12 to $17 and hour here.

AS A MEDICAL ASSISTANT??? What is the cost of living? LVN's make that much here and you can not get a house for less than 300,000...average type house, may even need a little work.

I live in the Baltimore - Washington DC area. The cost of living here varies (Baltimore City vs. Eastern Shore Etc..) so the pay does as well. But, as a rule MA's and LPN are very close in pay rate ( at least when it comes to those working in Doc's offices). I don't know of any MA's who make less then $14/hr.
