Hi, I am jen and I am curretnly a student at Sandform Brown, and I am about to go on externhip. I want to know what is it like working in the hospital or clinic. Is it very hard to get a position after finishing externship without being certfied.

Hi Jen,

I am doing my externship right now and I love it. I am doing my externship with my own physicans, even though I was very nervous about going to work there it is a great fit for me, our practice deals with cosmetic and reconstructive surgery in and around the eye. to see what our patients go through really make me greatful for what I have. As far as what to expect it is different in every setting, for me what I typically do is confirm appointments, work in the records department, observe in the surgical areas, and I deal a little bit with insurance and I am hopeing to be able to work more with insurance soon. I'm new to this site.
I'm currently in the MA program at Madison Area Tech School.
I work for a medical office now as the secretary. I can't wait to start to do some clinical stuff. With a job and a family I'm only taking 1 class at a time so it's taking a while. I'm lucky to be able to take my classes online so far and hope to do my clinicals in our office.

I'm anxious to get feedback from others working and going to school.
