Why is the pay scale so low?

Why are doctor's office thrilled to offer you between 8-10 dollars and hour? I mean this skill we have is it really worth that little? Or should I apply at my local fast food chain and get almost the same amount per hour?

AMEN!!!! I have had it with medical assisting and health care!! The pay really does suck big time. I am lucky to make 14.50/hr but I could be making so much more in another career! If you don't want to become a nurse you can just accept the fact that you will never be paid what your worth! So, that is why I have went back to school to become a mortician!!!
