Question about the pay.

Im 18 yrs old & in college. I choosed medical assistant as my major, but Im worried that I made a mistake. I saw on a website that the pay is below $30,000. At first I hope that was just the starting rate, but I'm not sure anymore. If anyone know the truth, please, please let me know. Next monday I sign up for next semester & I need to know if I should keep this as a major or choose another.

Re: Question about the pay.

Hi Kacie, I have been a cma for 15 years now. I discovered the amount of pay all depends on the area and the type of facility you work for.. hospitals and specialist tend to have higher pay scales and benefit options. 30k ayear is a pretty reasonable estimate in the state of ohio anyway. Hope the info helps and best of luck to you!!

Re: Question about the pay.

It all depends on what state your in, type of office and title. Here in maryland I make around $32,000 a year. I only have 2 years of medical office experience. I hope to become a medical assisting instructor within the next couple of years and the pay at that level can be very good.
