Q about MA school

I will be registering for the medical assistant program soon. (certificate, 15 month school) It is an accredited college, so I got that covered. Just wondering, how much math is involved in the program? What kind of math, I'm not good at it :)
oh, and once your hired and working, if you have a severe cold or something, would your boss automatically send you home?- because of the sanitary conditions. I usually never call in sick!

Re: Q about MA school

Simple fractions (add, sub, divide kind of stuff). Roman numerals, Tbs. tsp. conversions. Nothing major. GOOD LUCK!

Re: Q about MA school

Did you have to take an exam to get in the MA school? If so how was it and what kind of things were on it.
Thanks!

Re: Q about MA school

I am going to M.A.(long program-associates degree) school under the "Trade act" due to my plant closing and was required to take a few battery of test with the unemployment center which included some minor math and basic algebra. The school itself just had me complete a few essays. I am not sure if just writing a few sentences on paper works this way for all.

Re: Q about MA school

I have been teaching medical assisting since 1994 and ALL my students have always been concerned about the math, they say the same thing "I'm not good at math." MA school involved no advanced math, just a little algebra. Now, don't get scared. This is not difficult stuff. Just some basics.

You may want to brush up on your basic math. You can go to Wal-Mart and get those little yellos "Cliff's Notes". Get an expensive calculator ($5) and do some practice. Brush up on multiplying and dividing.

Here again, I think a lot of the math "difficulty" depends on the instructor's delivery. I spent a lot of time figuring out ways to make the delivery "easier" for my students and now I believe I have mastered that aspect of teaching math and pharmacology. Wish you could be in my class.

Good luck to you!
